This cherry cake is a true delight and great for every occasion. The juicy cherries and the succulent chocolate sprinkles are combined with a delicious vanilla cake. Just heavenly. All baking instructions are in German language.

Translation of the basic intructions:

You need: 10" springform pan. You add: 1 jar of sour cherries (or 1 1/2 cans tart cherries), drained; 3/4 cup of softened butter, 3 eggs.

  1. Adjust oven rack to the lower third position; preheat oven to 340°F; slightly grease your Springform pan with non-stick baking spray; drain cherries.
  2. In a medium size bowl combine cake mix (Backmischung), eggs and butter and beat on low using a handheld mixer with the beater attachments. Continue beating on high for 3 minutes until a smooth batter is forming. Add chocolate sprinkles and briefly beat on low just until all ingredients are well combined. Pour batter into the springform pan and even out with the back of a spoon or a spatula. Evenly distribute cherries on top of the cake batter, leaving about 1/2" clearance to the side of the pan.
  3. Place springform pan in the preheated oven and bake for approximately 60 minutes. Remove pan from oven. Remove outer ring of the springform pan and place cake on a cooling rack. Let cool to room temperature before serving. Sprinkle with powdered sugar for garnish.

Store dry and protect from heat.
