The Ostmann Hirschhornsalz, also known as ammonium bicarbonate, is a strong acting raising agent with a characteristic taste which develops its effects in temperature of 140°F and above. It is commonly used in combination with potash for Christmas baked goods such as lebkuchen, pfefferkuchen, honey printe and the likes.

How to use: Dissolve 1 tsp of Hirschhornsalz in 1 tbsp of water and add to the flour. One sachet is sufficient for about 3.31 lbs of flour. Only suitable for the use in food.

Store in a cool and dry place.
