Belgian Master Baker Edouard DeBeukelaer has been creating cookies since the 1850's - and he is credit with the invention of one of Europe's most iconic cookies: The Prinzenrolle. This often imitated "cookie sandwich" of two delicious, round butter cookies, filled with a tasty chocolate cream is also known as "Deppelkeks" ("Double Cookie"), but only the original by DeBeukelaer has the iconic prince print-baked onto the cookie. Given the success of this innovation, it is not a surprise that the Debeukelaer company has grown into one of the leading cookie and sweets manufacturers of Europe and offers plenty of other yummy treats.
