German Easter Tradition & Egg Painting
The German tradition to decorate the branches of trees and bushes, wells and fountains with colorful eggs for Easter is centuries old. Eggs are hung on branches of outdoor trees and bushes, water wells and water fountains as well as on cut branches inside.
All eggs are mouth-blown and decorated by hand. Some are sprayed with one or more multi-colored patterns. Some eggs are painted with motifs found in the city, such as the city gates or the home-museum, but world-famous buildings are also used as motifs. Many eggs are covered in crochet and protected against further weathering. New themes are used every year. Some eggs are perforated for decoration, and others are enhanced with clay for transformation to shapes. Why don't you give this beautiful tradition a try?
