Mueller's Muehle red lentils

The red lentil is the peeled form of a type of lentil which is mostly grown in India and Turkey. It originally has a purple skin and bright orange-red core. As it no longer has a seed coat, the red lentil becomes soft very quickly when cooked. During cooking, the orange colour changes into a yellowish tint.
Red lentils do not need to be soaked, as the outer hard skin was already removed during the peeling process. The cooking time is approx. 10 minutes.

Red lentils are suited to salads, soups, as an accompaniment to meat and poultry dishes, purees and stir-fries.
